Meditation & Mindfulness are learned skills that have amazing effects on health and wellness. In this workshop, you'll develop both practices.
You will learn By the end of this workshop, you'll be practicing 10 minute mediations and living "mindfully".
Meditation
In the simplest terms, meditation is a practice where the mind is focused for a period of time.
The physical health benefits of meditation are:
- Build new brain grey matter, increased neuroplacticity, new neuron circuits. (The different distributed neural circuits include sectors of the prefrontal cortex and anterior cingulate cortex, the insula, and the midline regions, alterations in subcortical circuits such as the amygdala and ventral striatum)
- Cardiovascular risk reduction
- Lower blood pressure
- Normalize insulin production and blood sugar
- Reduced atherosclerosis (reduced carotid intimal thickness)

Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the increased awareness of self in the moment, the ability to observe the many simultaneous thoughts, feelings and emotions without judgment
Mindfulness provides the skill to observe and let our higher brain determine the best response
